
Getting Your Bathroom Heat Just Right
Nobody likes stepping out of a steaming shower into a freezing cold bathroom. It’s a shock to the system. That’s where infrared heaters come in. Unlike those old-school heaters that try to warm up all the air in the room, infrared lamps work like the sun. They beam heat directly onto you and the surfaces around you. You feel it instantly.
Picking the Right Power
You can’t just grab any heater and hope for the best. If you put a massive heater in a tiny powder room, you’re just wasting money and potentially overheating your ceiling. For a small space (under 4m²), a 400W to 600W lamp is plenty to keep things cozy. If you’ve got a medium-sized bathroom (about 5-10m²), you’ll probably want something in the 800W to 1200W range. Now, if you’re dealing with a huge master bath or one of those open-concept wet rooms, you’ll need a 1500W unit. Or, better yet, a few smaller units spread out so you don’t end up with any annoying cold spots.
Why “IP65” Actually Matters
Bathrooms are humid. Steam gets everywhere. And water and electricity? Not a great mix. That’s why we use IP65-rated gear. In plain English, it means the unit is sealed tight against dust and water jets. We use heavy-duty gaskets and housings that won’t rust, keeping the moisture away from the quartz tubes. If those seals leak, the lamp can pop or burn out way too fast. It’s just not worth the risk.
The Trade-off
Here’s the thing: more wattage means faster heat. It’s an instant hit of warmth the second you flip the switch. But there’s a catch. High-wattage lamps pull a lot of power. Before you install a 2000W beast, check your circuit breaker and your wiring. If that heater is sharing a circuit with your water heater, you’re probably going to trip the breaker and end up in the dark. Just match the power to the size of your room and make sure the lamp is at least 2.2 meters above the floor. That way, you stay warm without worrying about burns or a massive electric bill.
