Most bathroom heat lamps use short-wave infrared to get you warm the second you flip the switch. It works great, but there’s a catch: that blinding white light from standard quartz tubes is just too much. Especially for newborns. Their eyes are still developing, and that intense glare can actually be stressful for their retinas. So, we decided to change how the light actually works. Tuning the light for safety Instead of letting that raw, harsh light blast out, we filter it. We use special coatings and doped quartz glass to dial back the blue-light peaks. What does that mean for you? It means the heat still hits the skin perfectly, but the light stays soft. No more worrying about a baby staring directly into the lamp. It’s a much calmer experience for everyone. The nuts and bolts Under the hood, these lamps are built to fit right into your existing bathroom wiring. We use high-purity quartz for the outer shell because bathrooms are humid. If you use cheap materials, the filament burns out way too fast. We also concentrate the heat in the center of the tube so the warmth actually reaches where it needs to go. Now, here’s the trade-off. Because we’re filtering out that harsh light, the lamp isn’t quite as “bright” as a standard one. But honestly? That’s a win. You lose a bit of luminosity, but you gain peace of mind. Getting it installed right Since these live in “wet zones,” the seals have to be airtight. If a stray drop of water hits a scorching hot quartz tube, the glass can crack from the thermal shock. That’s a mess nobody wants. Make sure you use a moisture-rated housing. And a quick tip: check that your wiring can handle a continuous load. You don’t want your junction box overheating while you’re just trying to keep the room cozy.
